HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
In 9 Questions for a New Museum, each session is based on questions posed by the speakers, which serve as a driving force to open debate, generate reflection and foster an open dialogue.
These are all the questions from the Health panel with Carmen Cabezas, Roser Sanjuán and Josep Maria Argimon, moderated by Guillem d’Efak Fullana.
Is the healthcare sector aware of the potential of art and culture to address the current health challenges facing the population?
Is the healthcare sector flexible enough to incorporate transformative artistic projects into its practices? From which areas would it be most favourable to incorporate them?
Should the Museum incorporate into its collections the artistic productions resulting from Arts in Health projects?
What key skills can healthcare professionals acquire through collaboration with museums, such as observation or empathy?
Can we use the cultural and historical contexts of museum collections to better understand the social determinants of health?
Can art help build personal or community narratives to strengthen social resilience?
How can artistic experiences help normalise conversations about death in a society that often avoids it?
One of the main [pre]occupations in public health is reducing health inequalities among the population. How can museums —and the New MNAC— reach those people who need them most because they face poorer social determinants of health (those most vulnerable due to socioeconomic conditions, age, etc.)?
In what ways can the museum make the most of its role as a community resource and asset? Not only through its core function of preserving and exhibiting art, but also as a driver and co-creator of Arts in Health projects, and as a resource for the community in which it is rooted —as a climate refuge, a meeting place, a venue for community or cultural activities…
